IRELAND LEGEND TO PLAY PRO RUGBY AT 40

Ireland legend Peter Stringer has joined Worcester Warriors on a short term deal as scrum half, according to reports

The veteran is poised to provide cover for Francois Hougard. Stringer, who is 39 year old, would be featuring for the Warriors in his 40s after agreeing a six month deal.

The player has 98 Ireland caps so he is expected to bring his experience to fore as he arrives at Sixways. He would cover for first choice number nine Hougaard, who would be away with South Africa on international duty later this year.

Stringer exited the Sale Sharks at the end of last term. He is a Six Nations Grand Slam and three-time Triple Crown winner with Ireland. He would be playing alongside his former Thomond Park teammates Donncha O’Callaghan.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and being reunited with Donncha. I’m feeling as fit and ready as ever and I’m genuinely excited about getting back on the field as I feel I still have plenty to offer,” Stringer said. Continue reading →
